At last night’s 2024/2025 Port Marlborough Environment Awards it was a pleasure to announce TRS Wholesale Limited as the winners of the new Marlborough Lines Electrification & Energy Efficiency category. TRS Wholesale’s project has delivered real results in energy efficiency, emissions reduction, and renewable energy use.
At Marlborough Lines, our focus is on supporting sustainable growth and protecting our environment. With our vision to “Energising Marlborough’s Future”, we’re proud to back initiatives that reduce energy use, cut emissions, and contribute to a more resilient region. Marlborough Lines sponsored this category to highlight the important work being done in electrification and energy efficiency across Marlborough. The finalists have shown impressive commitment and innovation, helping lead the way toward a lower-carbon future.
TRS Wholesale Limited has developed the world’s first commercially available fully electric trailed sprayers for vineyard and orchard use, marking a significant innovation in agricultural technology. The sprayers, powered by electric tractors, eliminate the need for diesel-powered systems, offering a completely emission-free operation. Key features include a 10-hour operational duration, high energy efficiency, and minimised spray wastage. Currently, one unit operates in New Zealand, and two are deployed in the U.S. The company is also working on integrating solar chargers and electric tractors, with a focus on recyclability and addressing challenges like electric tractor availability and operational compatibility.
